Again, commute time depends on how far both your home and your office are from the highway. If you are in Highlands Ranch and she gets on the highway at 7:00 a.m., then she shouldn't have any problem getting to the Auraria Parkway exit in 15-20 minutes. (If she gets on the highway at 7:30, then it's going to take twice that long). Probably should be able to get to most downtown locations from there in 10 minutes. If there is a big snowstorm, then you can just about double your travel times.

Don't forget that there's a light rail stop in Highlands Ranch. Goes right down to the 16th Street Mall, and then she can take the free mall shuttle from there. Yes, it does take longer than driving, but is sure easier.

There is no light Rail stop in Highlands Ranch. There will be. Southwest Corridor

If you live on the west side it will take 20-40 minutes to downtown via Santa Fe.

If you live in the middle off Broadway or University, you can take either Santa Fe or C-470 to I-25 that would be 25-45 minutes.

Sometimes it takes me 10 minutes to get to out of the Ranch. Especially during construction or an accident, or weather.

Highlands Ranch is a city size subdivision.

Default Lightrail

According to the documentation it is supposed to be available now? If not, do you know when the lightrail will be expanding to 470 and Lucent? That looks like it will be incredibly convenient for all the folks in Highlands Ranch.

Once they put that lightrail in, I bet you can get to downtown in 40 minutes door-to-door

Mineral to 16th Street is a 25-30 minute trip. I don't see how HR to Mineral enable a door to door goal of 40 minutes, unless you lived across the street from the station.

Why not Platt Park? 15 minute commute to downtown - check. Good Schools - Asbury is highly rated, McKinley Thatcher less so, but getting better. A new daycare just opened up on Emerson and Buchtel. Yard - check. Under 425k, check. (Something that can't be said about Wash Park)

Is it true that if you live in Highlands Ranch you don't need to shovel the snow off your driveway? Is it covered under HOA?

Yes. They come and shovel all 40,000 homes every time it snows, all before 7 am. It's $125 a quarter. 4 rec centers, 8 pools, two tennis centers, skate parks, trails, open space, activities for young and old.

Thanks for the sarcasm and belittlement. Maybe I don't want to move to Denver if this is what people are like there

I am sorry. There as no intention of belittling in my post.

I found it funny that someone would ask if the HOA would clear a private driveway.

What I expect is they would keep the roads clear, not my driveway. The HOA does a decent job of clearing their sidewalks, but you are responsible for your own drive and sidewalk.

The light rail extension of the southwest rail corridor is a part of the current Fastracks project. It was projected to be completed in 2017 but that will never happen. The project has run into severe funding problems with the depressed economy and the loss of sales tax revenues. More important build outs of areas that lack rail will take precedence with the available funds. It is predicted that this extensions will never be built in the foreseeable future unless the voters approve more sales tax funding.
