I'll be moving to Denver next week and wanted to get other people's opinions on their favorite season and why.

I'm moving from Phoenix who has two seasons, terrible and tolerable... I prefer the latter and can't wait to get all four seasons back. I'm originally from Omaha and would have to say my favorite seasons are fall and winter... giving a slight edge to fall for the foliage, football season, and weather. Although I wouldn't trade winter and the snow that comes with it for anything! Nothing better than a good snowfall!

Fall and spring here seem rather short, they don't have the length or feel of midwestern seasons. Summer here is great, can be a bit hot in the middle of the day but always nice by 7pm and nothing feels better than sleeping with the windows open in a cool house. Plus nice to get the occasional thundershower to keep things from getting too hot or brown. Coming from Phoenix you will really enjoy getting a chance to go outside in the summer instead of moving from one air conditioned spot to another.

^^Some falls are great, like this one, and one a few years ago. Nice, warm, dry weather with lots of sun. Sometimes we get snow in Sept. when the leaves are still on the trees, and then the leaves just turn black and fall off.

Spring is short, sometimes practically non-existent. The trees don't leaf out until May, and by June it's hot.

I am not much of a leaf watcher, so I don't mind an early snow shower -- though they are pretty rare. I do love fall. The 6 - 8 weeks from the 2nd week of September through October are wonderful. Sunny, warm (usually in the 70s to low 80s), with a chill at night (down to the mid 50s), and usually very dry. Plus, the chiles have made their way from the farms to the stands for roasting.

My favorite season is actually winter, although this winter has been WAY too mild for my tastes! I like when it snows because the skies are generally clear after the storm has moved away and the mountains are completely white/snow-covered.

Welcome to Denver, where we have...two seasons. Winter and Summer with a brief interim period occasionally (as in this year) known as autumn. Except for the fact that humidity here (or lack thereof) is very similar to Phoenix, and the high temperature is less extreme, it's pretty much the same deal (Phoenix's "autumn" is a late summer period called Monsoon Season.) Just shift the whole temperature scale down by about 15 - 20 degrees, and don't let people tell you a dry cold is nicer than a wet cold. These are a confused people.

Kind of hard to make that comparison really, the comfort levels between the two cities are completely different when it comes to summer and winter. The difference between 90 and 110 is huge and worst part of Desert SW living for me were the summer nights. Nothing worse than going outside at 10pm and its still around 100. Or the inability to open your windows for 3 months, the air gets all stale and dusty inside. As for winter, the difference is a lot more than 20 degrees during cold snaps, I mean Denver had a high of 9 degrees last Friday and that isn't the worst it could be. Phoenix will never have a high below freezing.

I live here because I like ALL of the seasons, I ~really~ do! Having the 4 seasons is a great "balance" and I love and enjoy each and every one of them.

I do wish that this winter season would actually feel like one this year!
