I have many colleagues that used to work for Dish/Echostar and they have all said it is a terrible work environment. I still have friends there and they complain about it all the time.
Let me just take a swing myself and say "been there, done that." Dish/Echostar es no bueno. "Buyer" beware.

I want to move back to Denver in the worst way, but I won't sacrifice my happiness just to do so and I won't take a job I know I will be nothing more than a temporary paycheck while I search for something better as a "local". That's not fair to them or me.

Anyone know of an opening for an IT Manager with sysadmin and network engineering skills?

DISH recently found my resume and called me and asked me to come in for an interview. I just kind of laughed and told the women no thanks, and good luck finding someone, considering their reputation. Then she hung up on me!

From what I understand, they're worse than a bad employer. If you do a great job, they actually start setting you up to be fired after a few years because they don't want to pay you more each year, and don't want you to collect unemployment. So you end up with a "firing" on your record, no job, no UI benefits.

Yep I took them off my list too. There are some pretty cool companies out there, but they tend to be smaller and have more of an upstart thing going on, which is good and bad. Upstarts can be scary, but the energy is incredible.
