I keep hearing all of these great things about the highlands of Denver but I don't actually know where that is or what it encompasses. I am moving out to the surrounding Denver area in a few months so I don't want to be in the dark here. Is it just called highlands, highlands ranch, does it include places like westminster, arvada, etc..? I have also been hearing about southern and north highlands. An explanation would be greatly appreciated!

1. Denver Maps - Downloadable Maps (City-wide)
You want the Neighborhood Map with streets

2. Highlands = unofficial term for the union of 2 Denver neighborhoods: Highland and West Highland

3. Highlands Ranch has nothing in common with "the Highlands" except the word and they are in the same state.

4. "The Highlands" do not include parts of anything outside the boundaries of the 2 City and County of Denver neighborhoods. I live in Berkeley and despite what some real-estate agents say--I do not live in the Highlands.

Highlands is the area of Denver between I-25 and Federal, and between West 29th Avenue and West 38th Avenue.

It is East of Arvada, South of Westminster, and North of Highlands Ranch.

Highlands (and Lower Highlands, which is really what you mean) is just a gentrified neighborhood to the west of downtown across I-25. It's bordered to the north and south by much lower rent (and much more diverse) neighborhoods, so you won't be confused about where it begins and ends. Google it, visit it, and see if you like it.
