I live off of Park Avenue and pay 975 a month. I was told that this area used to be less than desirable but it's really up and coming apparently. There really aren't too many places I'd walk alone at night as a female, but I don't feel unsafe taking my dog outside alone. My place is about a mile from downtown, an easy walk or a cheap cab ride when I want to go out weekends but don't feel like walking. I lived close to Westminster when I first moved here and it's a nice area if you want to live in the burbs with a family. If you're single you should live downtown or at least go south of the city where the light rail is always an option. I work downtown and the commute was NOT FUN. It took me about 50 minutes each way because of traffic. Plus you'll have to pay for parking anytime you drive into the city.

Again thanks for the advice. Cheers!

Well there is a fenced dog park about a mile from Tanglewood. And the Westminster Dog Park is about 15 minutes away. This is a huge off leash area that is wonderful for dogs.

People seem to not understand what walkable means, and its really annoying! Walkable doesn't mean it's safe to go out and take a stroll. If someone wants a walkable neighborhood, that means they can walk to amenities such as grocery stores, restaurants, bars, venues, etc. Most of the suburbs (and a lot of Denver for that matter) are not walkable.

Capitol Hill is a walkable neighborhood, parts of Baker are walkable, same goes for Downtown. I've lived in areas of Glendale that were walkable, though many parts are not.

I'm moving out of an extremely neighborhood in LA and boy am I going to miss the convenience. I can walk to a Trader Joes, Whole Foods, Ralphs (King Soopers), about 40 restaurants (probably more), countless shops, two malls, mechanics, art galleries, several bars, pharmacies, etc. Pretty much everything I need and tons of stuff I don't need. For the past few months, where I've been working within walking distance, I drive maybe twice a week. That is what you call a walkable neighborhood.

Do you want to live in a house or an apartment? I suggest not bein too picky with your first place in town. Get a modest apartment in a big complex that will allow you to meet people. Live there for a year and by then you will KNOW exactly where you want to live.

Short drive What? I live in Parker and just lost my job in downtown and its 26 miles and takes 2 hours in the snow minimum, and 1 hour dry road. How is that short considering Castle Rock is even a bit farther than Parker. And yes Parker and Castle Rock are virtually crime free and are mostly yuppie ville.

Was it really 50 minutes Westminister to downtown? I know 36 is bad, my poor wife does contract software work and drives from Parker to Boulder, 60 miles, and it takes her 90 minutes most times.

Denver definitely has an urban sprawl problem.

Based on the characteristics that you are referring to, I would suggest the Denver Tech Center. It very close to I-25, only 15-20 minutes from downtown Denver. Great restaurants, excellent schools, amazing parks, and it has some really nice homes/condos for rent. Moderator cut: sorry, no advertising, please read the TOS
