I think that may come into your decisions too?
Jefferson County is not and had not any problem for anybody who had left leaning politics, so I really do not know what you are talking about. In addition, The City of Littleton, does not have no more different attitudes or culture than Jefferson County so again, what are you talking about.

If you are talking about a Littleton address, as your development of Highlands Ranch which is in Douglas County and all those other areas in and around The City of Littleton, the County Seat of Arapahoe County--these areas are not Littleton--they just use that Post Office. If fact, there are areas of South Jefferson County that use a Littleton address, so by your definition--they must live in Littleton.

I think it is strange that you are making a big assumption that Jefferson County is not welcoming to left leaning political people based on some information happening 20 years ago. The same ideas are questionable in thinking that left leaning people are more welcomed in your perceived areas of Littleton. It makes no difference what your political persuasion and where you live in this broad metro area, you will be welcomed anywhere. It also shows in all the national votes that each and every county has a mixture of people voting differently.

Ken Caryl and Littleton are out, due to proximity to family members we'd rather have a bit of distance from. We've lost 2 Applewood/Wheat Ridge homes due to a contingent contract. Bummer. Inventory is low and prices seem HIGH! We are really into ranches and the mid-mod look, but I'm also a sucker for dormer windows

As for politics. We are good with Jeffco. Think Douglas County might kill us, though!

By the way, I want to thank everyone who responded. This site is awesome. Livecontent, my kids are in preschool in Arvada. We really like Arvada, any areas to scope out and/or avoid? West Woods is gorgeous but FAR.

West Woods is nice but I do not like it because it is new. It has not developed the patina that comes from age and time when trees grow and homes develop individuality. In addition, it lacks public transit. There are many more neighborhoods in Arvada that are developed with big old parks and have the essential need of public transit.

I do not think there are any areas in Arvada that should be avoided. There are no real bad neighborhoods in Arvada. I have lived in West Arvada; I now live in East Arvada. I think the best area to live is West Arvada, East of Indiana and along West 64th. There are great areas near Arvada West High School (This is a brand new school as the old high school was demolished), just east of Ward Road and nice elementary schools. I find nice the neighborhoods around Oak Park, Oak Park elementary school, On Oak just north of 64th.
I like areas up on Simms. I think there are nice home in Allendale, South of 64th.

I would suggest you also look in the Lake Arbor Arbor, in and around 80th and Wadsworth. Good Schools, nice parks, good public transit, good shopping nearby.

There are so many areas to look at and find a home.

As an update, we closed on a great house in Applewood (35th, just west of Kipling) yesterday, and our Berkeley home is on MLS today!
