has the construction market bounced back in the Metro area? wife has lots of family in the area and I have always wanted to relocate. Having such a good job has always kept me here. how is the job market for a construction manager that can build just about any type of project and any size. Currently finishing a
$113 mil apartment job that has a 8 story parking garage surrounded by 400 units.

There's a LOT of construction going on right now--I always think this has to be one of the stronger markets for construction in the country. Around my office by the Union Station end of 16th Street downtown, there's several office buildings, apartments (condos?), a hotel, a grocery store all being built right now. Not to mention the huge public transportation projects. Union Station should be done within the next year, but there's a whole bunch of rail lines being developed through 2016 and beyond. There always seems to be new apartments popping up all over the Metro area.

Yes, the industry is booming out here. However, many companies are reluctant to hire up or give substantial raises until the future outlook is clearer. Be prepared for a very competitive job search, and don't expect to sign on for the same salary you may be used to in CA.
