My husband, three kids and I will be moving from Fort Lauderdale to Denver for a job promotion. My husband will be working in Downtown Denver and we are trying to figure out the best place to purchase a home.

We are in our mid-thirties with three kids, ages 3, 1 and 12 days old. Our house budget is $1.4 million and ideally we would like a 5-bedroom home. We would like to be in a family-friendly area with great parks and lots to do to meet new people. At the same time, my husband would like to keep his commute around 30 minutes or less.

Any location suggestions?

Why suburbs?
Why not Denver?

The realtor we are using has sent us neighborhoods in Denver, but the homes seems to be smaller with smaller yards and an urban feel. We live in East Fort Lauderdale right now, which has that same feel and are looking forward to move space and gorgeous views.

I come from Miami so I completely understand. What about Evergreen?

I'd suggest looking in "Highlands Ranch". Commute will be over 30 mins during rush hour though...

Hmmm. I'm a city guy, two kids ages 3 and 6, but if I were to move to the burbs and still wanted to be within a half hour of downtown I think Greenwood Village, Bow Mar, and Golden

Definitely outside of a 30 minute commute.

It's going to be a trade off between local/proximity to downtown and lot size. You'll most likely have to to decide which one to prioritize. And don't forget to factor in snow and the impact that has on commuting times.

Solterra in the gated section. That other part by Bow Mar....Pinecrest or Pinehurst? (Technically Denver county ) Parts of Littleton...Highlands Ranch....Genesse. There's probably a lot of choices all around.

Any other wants/needs?
