I guess people in Colorado are not very friendly.
I was wondering why that was a thing. Not just headphones, but 90's style radios in addition to those blaring it out of their phone or attached speakers.

I don't get the blaring/sharing your music for everyone fad. I hit the trail to avoid assclownery like that. Thankfully throngs of idiots bagging 13ers hasn't become hip (yet).

I get the problem with hordes of 'weekend warrior' hikers and their radios, but at least in New Mexico they tend to concentrate in a few popular areas. Colorado is a massive, mountainous state. I am sure there are plenty of places to find some solitude if you leave the beaten path.

And spreading out is the best way to reduce impact and Leave no Trace.

Anywhere that we can easily take a young child (within a reasonable drive) that I thought was secluded has been very crowded and filled with those types. (I mean that has a max. loop or up/down of around 3 miles)

BUT what I have discovered is that rather than getting there early in the morning and planning to have lunch & all that. It's actually nearly deserted if we go after lunch. I mean get there between 2-4 pm and stay for dinner. The only problem is that then we're at risk of afternoon thunderstorms and have to drive home and rush bedtime for the kids, but that works the best for us not dealing with throngs of similarly aged childless peers who are often (not always) completely oblivious to others.

I really don't understand it either. At the apartment complex where I used to live in south Jeffco, people would do that-- in the fitness room!! Some people truly do not understand how their actions affect the community as a whole.

I hope the question becomes why is everyone moving to Boise ?
so that the mountain trails thin out . Every generation since I have been in Colorado thinks it is cool to bring their music with them and have a party in the mountains . I always thought it was dumb to be blasting the stereo ( full volume ) at night at 9 -10, 000 feet and chugging beer and standing around a huge fire and passing around the joint or Jack Daniels . Now I will go to Wyoming to Camp or hike for a weekend because I am a Curmudgeon. I dont like crowds with the exception of that one time I found a hippy chick wandering by herself in Deer Creek canyon at night She said she was lost and could not find the party she was at so I gave her a ride to the nearest Blasting Stereo fire pit until she was ok but that was a more innocent time....

It was at Lincoln/Democrat/Cameron/Bross on a weekday. I do 13ers on weekends and thought if I did some 14ers on a weekday I would be alright. No such luck, but still had a great day.

Unfortunately, the Lincoln/Democrat/Cameron/Bross excursion has become such a popular way to rack up a handful of 14ers, it is a virtual parking lot from the Paris Mill up to Kite Lake.

Yup. And the city is full of them.

One thing that has been getting to me lately are the amount of people who don't put their dogs on leashes in public spaces. In my apartment complex but also in parks - seriously, what is wrong with these people? Do they assume their dog is so obedient to not attack or freak out someone or get run over by a car?

Also I find it weird how when a dog runs away the owner walks and doesn't run to catch the dog - total aloofness.
