I'm calling BS on that- it sure would not be long-term residents or natives "with open arms".
This 5th generation native welcomes Californians with open arms (except maybe the OP. He sounds kind of douchy.)

I invited my Capitol Hill captors over last night (the dogs, not the people) and we watched this together. We all agreed it is better to just try and get along! OP, do not try and force all the locals to wear pink and you will be fine!

The ultimate showdown between native and newcomer...

Call it whatever you want. I am from California and I have never had any problems from the "natives" outside of good natured ribbing. I have made some great friends that were born here. Why would California transplants hassle new transplants? Now that is some B.S.. I know quite a few California transplants and they are pretty laid back.

Do you live in Boulder? I know you used to be from CA.

No, I don't live in Boulder. I live in one of the suburbs south west of Denver, basically part of the Metro area. Originally from San Diego.

I think you should be a lot more concerned about hail storms than vandalism. It hails hard in Denver several times a year and many vehicles are damaged. My Honda Civic was badly damaged the first week I arrived in Denver and you can see lots of damage on other vehicles. I was told by my insurance company that this is why vehicle insurance is a lot more in Denver than many other places. I know this wasn’t what you asked but I thought I should mention it since you seem concerned about your vehicle.

As I have said on this board many times, most of the natives still in Colorado are used to the growth and have little to no problem with it. The ones I come across that have a problem with people moving here are the ones who think they "discovered" Colorado sometime between the late 70s and early 10s and think that everybody else should stay away from their discovery.
