hi, i'm a 32 yr old female interior decorator from new york who is looking to move to denver within 2-3 months. I'm looking for advice on a few things. First, I've been looking for a 2bdrm apt. close to downtown, does anyone know about Lowry North? Also, what kind of job opportunities are in the denver area for a decorator? Any advice would be greatly appreciated, as I have to make this move quickly....thank you in advance!!!!

Not much advice here, I just wanted to say, don't be surprised by how friendly the people are over here bc I was shocked coming from the city. And you should be fine finding a place downtown or nearby because the rent over here is ridiculously cheap compared to the rates in New York city.

Lorwy is an area that used to be not so nice, but Denver has been going through a sort of "remodeling" within the last decade, and the area has been revamped along with Stapleton. It's a nice place to live now, but not surrounded by the greatest areas. I'm sure that will get better as these areas become more developed. Personally, I prefer south of Denver, which is nicer and newer all around.

I honestly don't know much about getting a job/starting a career here in Denver as a decorator. It seems like such a trendy career right now so it may be competetive. However, Denver is a very cosmopolitan and trendy place and I think a lot of people use these services in certain areas, such as Cherry Creek.

Input on career. I work for a contractor who is affiliated with two interior designors in the Denver area. I also have worked in that field. It is tough to get started here.
No Offense To Anyone Denverites on a whole seem to want expertise for free as compared to the NY area. (Im from N. Jersey originally) Getting a position in an established business is critical. You need to make the right contacts and it will take time. I spent two and a half years working in a related field just to get to know the right people. Now it is paying off for me. The people I see using design services are living in the upper third of home prices. Also get involved in clubs/activities that are made up of people who make $100,000 a year or more.
Good Luck
