I have a friend coming in from North Carolina but I don't really know what to do with her! I live her, I don't really know what the touristy things are ( I mean do new yorkers often go to see the statue of liberty?)

She's very out doorsy, kind of a bohemian... I cant take her skiing (previous broken neck issue) But i was thinking of going to estes for the views, but i dont think we could spend a whole week staring at mountains and tree, seen one tree seen em all...

Anything helps thanks!

I'm from NJ/NY area and when I went out to Colorado for the first time, I absolutely loved Estes Park. The drive up there from Denver was amazing!! So definitely spend a day or two up there.

We also spent some time in Boulder which was fun. I never got sick of the mountains and landscapes....so just driving around was enjoyable.

Take her to Red Rocks Ampitheatre & the Coors Brewery. Driving around the different neighborhoods in Denver was fun and going shopping...downtown, washington park, cherry creek, etc.. (musuems, zoo, sporting events, etc)

I just got back from CO, and I am planning to move out there this year, but for now, I guess I'd be a tourist

If you dont mind a drive and an overnight trip, I personally thought spending a night at Mt. Princeton Hot Springs was incredible...

The 16th Street Mall was also fascinating, we have the Mag Mile here in Chicago, but I loved 16th Street!

I can say as a tourist from somewhere without Mountains, it really didn't matter where we went, the scenery was beautiful, relaxing, and awesome. ATVing up in the mountains was also a fun thing that people who don't live near Mountains don't get to experience.

I wish I had more time to spend this last time I went, the Coors Brewery sounds like it'd be fun to tour, Estes Park up North, an Avalanch game, I wanted to check out the Denver museums, the cog train up Pikes Peak in Springs (is that even open this time of year?), Garden of the Gods, Sevenfalls, the Air Force Academy, and just in general tour Denver find the good hole in the wall dives to eat at, drive over to Boulder and see what all the fuss is about, the zoo, the aquarium, and in general just explore.

Personally, I'm super excited to actually move as I know for awhile I'll still feel like a tourist and want to do everything the area has to offer for the first time!

The Mint is pretty cool to tour. Of course I haven't done that since I was a kid, so I'm not sure if they still have them or not.

Unfortunately some of the cooler mountain stuff, Mt Evans, Rocky Mountain National Park, are closed this time of year, but there's still tons to do.

What time of year will your freind be coming and what are her interest, other then outdoorsy and bohemian? You mention a neck injury, so mountains would only be for viewing verses skiing. Does she like history, sports, broadway shows, shopping, museums, dinning out?

You'll find DenverAztec's list in the thread Things to Do.
//www.city-data.com/forum/denve...do-2009-a.html

I'd really recommend the Stock Show, since it would be something most towns don't have and would be a unique experience. It's not just animal auctions. As DenverAztec mentioned, the Mexican Rodeo is a great show.

I don't know exactly what you mean by bohemian, but i had a friend's niece here last winter who's a pretty artsy type and she loved the stock show. I took her to see the bunnies and chickens, as well as the Mexican rodeo. If nothing else, take her to the Brown when the champion steer is on display.

Welcome to National Western!

If she likes wine, take her to some local wineries. There are several on the Front Range. You could locate a winery and see what else there is in that area (or vice versa).

Have a great time!
