This is getting out of hand! All within the past 10 days!:

Pay withheld from three employees suspected of theft | C & G Newspapers

Former DPW boss faces embezzlement charge | C & G Newspapers

Eastpointe public works director arrested | C & G Newspapers

The Macomb Daily - Roseville cop accused of stealing $1,000 from gas station

Come on people, get a hold of yourselves! It's not worth going to jail and ruining your careers and life over a few thousand dollars!

Could this be "prevenge" for possible lay-offs or just typical government workers learning from their employer that it is okay to "share the wealth"?...or simple stupidity?

Unless the city of Warren received written consent from their employees, they CAN NOT, for WHATEVER REASON, withhold an employee's paycheck. If they suspect them of theft, that's what the judicial branch is for. It's not their place to play police officer, jury or judge.

LARA - Can my employer withhold my paycheck from me?

Problem with municipal work nowadays is that municipal budgets are wearing thin, and as a result, municipal wages, benefits, and working conditions are wearing thin as well. I'm not saying what anyone allegedly did was a decent thing to do, but times are tough, and municipal corruption in Macomb County is certainly nothing new. "Good Government" is not always the case around here. Pockets have been lined by corruption all along through the years, but the difference nowadays is that it's being noticed.
