I love this:

Quote:
Wrote Rodney Carter, “Call President Obama he has plenty of taxpayers cash to spend. Wasn’t that a campaign promise he made along with free rent and gas and payin’ my car note…Socialism only works if there is someone to pay for it.”
That gave me the laugh for the day. But, I do like the last sentiment:

Quote:
But before we go after those people, how about we go after the real welfare abusers. The elected officials, oil companies, insurance companies, banks, Wall Street. Because those abusers are the biggest beneficiaries of our hard work and tax dollars. Stop kicking those who are already down.”
Hmm, I'm not sure if the UN should get involved. There has to be a way somehow.

What I find interesting is the average water bill for Detroit is MUCH higher than the NATIONAL average. This goes along with the average car insurance is much higher than the national average, the commute times are higher so there goes gas money and car maintenance, the taxes are higher than normal, all this sh*t adds up and it's a bit ridiculous how Detroit residents are often overcharged for things.

On the other hand, if any of you go downtown tonight just observe how many people are wearing expensive name brand clothes and driving nice custom cars. So many people showing off, a third of them are probably using that water bill money to do it. Don't get me wrong, I love the finer things in life too but I take care of business first.

The 1/2 that is paying there bill, also has to "cover" the cost for the other 1/2 that don't pay. So the bill will be higher.

Agreed! I know when I used to take public transit in Pennsylvania, I'd be amazed at all the people who had really expensive things and would live in really bad sections. It was bizarre. I'm not materialistic, but I would rather have a decent place to live, good credit from paying bills on time than name brand things. ::shrug:: To each their own, I suppose.

Should be: "Half of Detroit knows they can get away with not paying their water bill."

...because the liberals (including the Water Department person quoted in the article) has convinced them that it is a "God-given, human right".

Oh? So you've met all 350,000 people who aren't paying their water bill and can tell that every single one is a lazy moocher?

Oh those "liberals" again - the Fox bubble is warm and cozy, eh?
It is right-wing economic policies, not Detroit residents or "liberals", which chased manufacturing jobs out of Detroit and the rest of the country.
The only "convincing" done is that by simplistic and self-verifying right-wing media platitudes which disingenuous and unthinking cons love to parrot.
You might instruct your Congress to stop obstructing jobs legislation or come up with some of their own rather than sitting on their behinds for six years. Then people could pay their bills.

BTW, note to cons - water is necessary for life, and life is a right. You disagree?
