This is about 3 weeks old, but I wanted to see what people thought.

Ferndale is proposing a new shuttle, called the Fab Cab. It would go through downtown Royal Oak, the zoo, Pleasant Ridge, Ferndale, and the Avenue of Fashion District, and the University of Detroit-Mercy

It would run on weekends from 10 am to midnight

What do you think?

Fab Cab trolley would circulate in Ferndale, Royal Oak, NW Detroit

I've been harassing the Berkley city council trying to convince them to get on board with this. The city manager actually wrote back and told me he emailed both Ferndale and the private company that's proposing this to gauge interest in including Berkley on the route. I've not heard anything since though.

Personally I'm a huge fan. I'd love to be able to hop on a bus after going to the zoo and head into Downtown Royal Oak for a bite, and then (ideally) get back on and be dropped off a quarter mile from my front porch.

Its not in my area so I have no opinion one way or the other. But while it may be free to climb aboard the article says its looking at $270,000 in costs to run 2 days a week. If that's 52 weeks a year then its about $2600 a night. I'm not trying to sound negative just looking at the numbers behind free. It actually seems rather cheap. But I suppose that hinges on ridership.

That makes more sense from the cost standpoint. It seemed way to reasonable for 52 weeks.
