Headed to the Motor City next Friday for the Kid Rock concert. Does anyone have any suggestions for things I must or should see while I'm there? Coming in Thursday afternoon and leaving Sunday morning. The nights should be fine, as I'm sure there are clubs and bars to entertain.

Any suggestions for activities to do or things to see on Friday and Saturday?

Thanks!

The below thread has a lot of good options, although it is more geared toward suggestions for families

//www.city-data.com/forum/detro...t-detroit.html

I would definitely include a Saturday morning or early-afternoon trip to Eastern Market - one of the great public markets in the country

For the most lively restaurant/nightlife districts, there are 3 main centers in the city - Downtown, Midtown, and Corktown. Outside of the city, and to the north, are Royal Oak and Ferndale and Hamtramck. If everyone in your party has passports, downtown Windsor, Ontario, just across the river from downtown Detroit, has great nightlife on the weekends.

Are you a rower? Stop by the Detroit Boat Club on Belle Isle and see if they will let you jump in a boat if they have an open space or a single available. Nice way to see Detroit and Windsor from the water. DWRC is also in the city, but I think DBC is more likely to welcome a visiting rower. (My son is a really good lightweight rower - bunch of national gold medals from summer club nationals. He rowed with DBC for a summer or two, also with DWRC and some other local clubs. Most of them seem to be happy to let him join in if he drops by and they have space)

On Friday, Campus Matrius is usually hopping and has some bands. Come hang out at the Beach for a few hours.

not mentioned ithe prior thread linked above:

Casinos also sometimes have nightlife stuff going on.

Wyandotte has a little too (just bar hopping mostly).

He is coming here mainly for the Kid Rock concert, which means he wants to know where the strip bars and the hookers are

Perhaps your tag line is a tad...off putting.

The Ford Rouge Factory Tour is mentioned in the link already provided, you might like seeing how Ford F150's are made.

The Detroit Tigers, having traded away nearly all of their good players in the start of a rebuilding effort, are now a really cheap ticket, and next weekend the Chicago White Sox are in town. The games will probably be bad, but you'll get in dirt cheap these days, anywhere from $3 for the really cheap seats to $30 for infield box seats (check on Stub Hub). At the worst, if you get bored then you can walk out without having wasted too much money. And you can say that you at least saw the inside of Comerica Park.

I've been to Comerica Park already unfortunately. I may go again if I can't find anything else to do. It's a great ballpark. Not as great as my team's park, Camden Yards, but no park can match OPACY in my opinion.

Thanks to all for the suggestions and especially the link above.

I used to live in the Detroit area, but escaped cause I hated it. HOWEVER, I can recommend the only thing that area has to offer and that is Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village.
