Greektown--> Cyprus Taverna and Laikon Cafe have the best Greek food in Greektown, but are not very fancy. Mosaic has a nice atmosphere but the food is not the best, it's not bad, just not the best. Fishones is also a good one.

Italian--> Angelina's Italian Bistro is very good and the atmosphere is very modern and inviting. Another great place is Roma Cafe in Eastern Market.

American/Seafood--> Wolfgang Puck grille and the Saltwater restaurant which are both inside MGM Grand.

These are my favorites downtown, I agree with the other posters, the RenCen top has the best views in the city. But I could pass on the food.

What about the Rattlesnake? Is it still open? It's been a while since I've been there....

I never thought about the Rattle. That's an option too. Anyone on here actually been to Mosaic that can compare? I love Slow's as much as the next guy, but I want something classy and new to her. Thanks again!

What about Sinbads? I went to the bar there and it looked reasonably nice.

Also you could take her ont he Detroit Princess dinner cruise or one of the other dinner cruises. The food is nto great on the princess, but it is very neat, unusuall classy and romantic.

Don't go to Sweet Lorraine's downtown lol. Worst service experience EVER! The soup, appetizer, and entree all came out an hour after we ordered. The server was nowhere to be found the whole time. It took 15 minutes just to get greeted and get a watered-down Pepsi. And the food was ice-cold. Granted, our manager comped the entire meal. But it nonetheless was a very unpleasant and frustrating experience. These restaurants may have great concepts- but if not properly managed and staffed it doesn't matter.

Well I made reservations at Roast for next month, so I hope its as good as I hear. Short PPM ride away from the hotel and good food I hope. Thanks for all the advice! Still waiting to hear if anyone has anything good/bad to say about Roast!
