Losting weight in a year or two seams real fast. Went from 40 size pants to 34 and I feel real good. Lots of energy. All from drinking only diet soda and water. I take insulin and I don't need to take much now.

I'm taking a lot of insulin and find it makes me very hungry so i eat too much which puts on more weight which gets the doctor giving me more pills and potions.

Anything special about the rest of your diet?as i assume its more than only diet soda and water

No exercise caused this weight lost. Just stress and cut off the fat food like fast food restaurants and stopped drinking drinks with sugar and didn't take my insulin like I should. Diabetic doctor checked out kidneys and found no damage.

Do a serious low carb diet, you will feel crumby for about week while getting the sugar and flour out of your system. I guarantee after a week you will feel great with more energy, and less cravings. The end result is lower blood sugar and weight loss.

John1960,

Congrats on the weight loss & improvement. If you can, try to nix the diet sodas. The artificial sweetners can cause problems as well. They make a Zevia soda that's made with the much safer stevia, although they are expensive. If you have the time, you can make these much cheaper with club soda + liquid stevia drops. Stevia is a natural sweetner & has an effect of lowering insulin levels without any side effects.

Keep up the great work,
Frank

John, I agree with what FiveHourDiabetic said about the artificial sweeteners. I wouldn't use anything but pure Stevia. There are lots of brands out there, now, but always check the ingredients and just go for the pure stuff.

For years I'd used a lot of diet drinks, but now mostly take herbal teas or just plain water with a couple of drops of liquid stevia. It's enough to give the sweet taste, but in a much healthier form.

I try to use Stevia in my coffee or tea now. I drink water now more then anything else.
