I would think not. Type I the pancreas produces no insulin (hence insulin shots). Type II means that insulin is still being produced, but the cells will not absorb said insulin (insulin resistance), hence the pills (like Metformin) that make the cells accept the insulin.
However, many Type II diabetics end up with having to use insulin. The pancreas will make extra insulin to make up for the insulin resistance of the cells (if untreated), but will, I guess, 'exhaust' itself over time, harming its ability to keep producing such high levels of insulin. Perhaps in that case this technology would work.
Note: I have been waiting for 20 years for a breakthrough. Many have been advertised, none have panned out. Yet, who knows?
