For those who have Type I and Type II Diabetes that have to constantly test your blood sugar with needles there maybe is good news in the near horizon. Scientists at Baylor University are developing a thumb pad sensor where all you do is insert your thumb in the monitor and it measures the blood sugar by Electomagnetic Waves.
Lets hope they are eventually successful. Even with all the caveats, it would be a wonderful way to enable people to track blood glucose more frequently!
Everyone would love it except for the pharma's. Oops, there goes the test strip business....do u see what I mean? Politics.
True, but the difficulty of reading blood glucose through the skin is also a serious obstacle. In fact, the device being worked on doesn't actually measure the BG, just extrapolates it from other measurements.
