This tread is dead for two years, but I will post here anyway.
I am a Type 1 diabetic; not born such, but developed some 25 years ago (I am almost 64).
I have been using the Omnipod pump for two years. Pretty good results, for the most part.
Yet, in the past year, my A1c has been going up. I recently had to change my Omnipod every 48 hours, instead of the 72 hours it is designed for.
I told my doctor (a diabetic specialist) that my insulin usage was up. He advised me to start Trulicity, a once a week injection.
Does it work? Yes, for me. At first it did not, because my doctor told me to stop taking Metaformin (Janumet, actually). But, after he said to resume Jamumet, the drug started working.
This drug is interesting. My pancreas still produces 'some' insulin. This drug, Trulicity, makes the pancreas produce insulin when you eat.
When I eat a high carb meal, I do not spike. The drug delays the result, although that is not really right. The drug makes more insulin 'come out' when you eat. Hence, when I eat now, I know that my 'spike' may not be for two hours, if get my drift.
