i like the general idea of your post; eat less and exercise more. however, this is one of my pet peeves, and i just can't let it go

there is no certain period of time where your body says "okay, its X pm; everything that comes in is going to be turned into fat." the "don't eat after X pm" is a myth based on the fact that many people have cravings at night and will eat tons of calories without realizing it. personally, i typically have cravings late afternoon. but that doesn't mean i shouldn't eat from 3-6; it just means that i should be careful and not binge on doritos and whoopie pies.
simply put, eating at night will not make you fat, it will not hinder your weightloss efforts, etc. there are actually plenty of excellent diets that incorporate refeeds (periodic large carbohydrate intakes in order to refill glycogen stores and increase leptin) at night, and no one has ever reporting fat gain from it; many actually note that after a refeed they look leaner (probably due to enhanced glycogen replinishment)

Default Always appreciative of peeeeves!

I won't argue, I have noticed that people gain heavier - when eating late at night and going straight to bed... because - at night, your metabolism is greatly reduced, whether you are in bed or not, your body goes into it's "shut down" mode for the night - or so I was told.

Well that sounds like an obvious take on the late night eating. It's too bad when your body tells you you need chocolate late in the evening and trying to surpress that is very tuff.

Yesss... my body waits till about 9:30pm or so... before it starts sending me gentle reminders like... "psss, we forgot to eat the end of the Mint chocolate chip icecream in the freezer! think it's still there?"
