It might have something to do with Oliver being a little sensationalist. Don't get me wrong. He's doing a good thing, but he goes about it in sort of a dramatic way.

Exactly! And I love him too - and I love the show!

But... when he approached the LA School District, they agreed to meet with him, and they agreed to let him tour their facilities - but no cameras allowed. There was another major network reality show, just last season, that set out to "renovate" one of the schools in the district - sort of Extreme Makeover for schools - and they did such a poor job, it cost the district $100,000 to REPAIR the things this other reality show damaged. They did things like paint the lockers - and that meant paint over the locks, and the numbers - just spray paint everywhere, so it looked shiny and new on camera. So the school district made a new rule - No more reality shows - they can't afford it. But they did offer to let Jamie Oliver tour their cooking facilities and come talk to them, as long as there were no cameras involved - and he refused - which I totally understand - he's there to do a TV show! But if you watched the show, it was made to look as if the school district just shut him out - which wasn't true at all.

So yeah, there are different ways to make change happen - and Jamie Oliver does a GREAT job at what he does - but he and Michelle Obama might not be the best fit, together!

Maybe she doesn't want to be involved in the sordid world of reality television, which specializes in humiliating the people it spotlights.
