Took me 2 years to lose 65 lbs by biking 5030 miles of workouts, not much dieting / ate anything but in moderation. Kept off the weight for 5 years now too so I'm doing EXCELLENT! Never gonna get fat again because I carefully watch what I eat, and I just don't overeat or pig out on bad stuff except for a Xmas Party or so...
I second knowing the correct portion sizes--and keeping a food diary with calorie count of everything that goes into the mouth. Weight Watchers is good for this.
Recent research proves that it's not any particular diet that works better than any other--it's eating less calories that causes weight loss.control the portion sizes, reduce daily caloric intake and step up the exercise (walk 3-4 times a week for 45 minutes outside or on a treadmill) and you're bound to lose weight--and keep it off. Best of all you don't have to worry about complicated diets--just eat less..sounds easy--but of course, it's not.
My diet trick? When I'm about to raid the frig or the pantry for a 'snack,' I pour myself a big glass of plain water--sometimes it's boredom, emotions or thirst driving me to snack--and not hunger at all.
