Of course you can but any moron eating french fries and diet coke deserves to be fat. It takes careful consideration and meal balancing to ensure you're getting your nutritional needs met however, its not nearly as hard as meat & dairy bias will have you believe. We don't need a stupid level of protein like a lot of people have been tricked into thinking.

Humans are not herbivores or carnivores. We are omnivores. A good mix of vegetables and meat is what we were designed to run on. Simple science proves this by the lengths of our digestive tract, ph balance, lack of more than one stomach, etc. I don't know why you think we "evolved" to eat vegan.

Personally, as someone who chronically has low iron, low energy and is hypothyroid, going vegan would keep me permanently deficient in iron and b vitamins. These are hard to get if you are vegan, you would need to supplement.

But adopting the principle of more veggies and more produce is good for everyone's diet.

Currently we are omnivores but it appears nature designed us to be herbivores. We evolved to somewhat consume meat hence 2 or 4 sharp teeth but we have over a dozen flat ones. That is massively overwhelming that we are much, much closer to plant eaters than meat.

Our digestive system is for consuming plant matter, not meat. True carnivores have a very short and fast system designed to quickly expel putrid and rotting flesh. They also have all sharp teeth like a cat. And here is the best way to tell that we are absolutely not carnivores. Do you eat your meat raw and bloody? Can you run over to a living creature and sink your teeth into and consume it? No, it will most likely make you vomit and cause you to get some sickness like salmonella or ecoli. The evidence is there that we shouldn't consume meat but we've been conditioned to accept that its "normal" and most people have a strong fear of change.

You can easily get tons of iron as a vegan if you eat a healthy variety (dark greens, beans). B12 you do need to supplement. Everyone should have vitamin D as well unless they get a lot of sun. Thats it though. You don't need anything crazy to be a vegan and its really not that restrictive unless you consume meat & dairy every single meal like most Americans.

How about not restricting ANY food groups and just eat a variety of whole, healthy foods. Stay away from processed foods and limit sugar and saturated fat intake. I know its not a sexy as following the latest craze or cause however its the easiest plan to follow if you plan on eating sensibly for the rest of your life. It also provides all the nutrients and fiber one needs. No need to supplement.

We himans have not evolved to be vegans, what a ridiculous statement. Never in the history on the planet has there been an indigenous vegan. Futhermore almost.all vegans eat poisonous agricultural waste product, which is exactly what soy protein isolate -the key ingredient in most fake meat prodcuts - is.

First of all what is a himan? Humans have teeth and digestive tracts that clearly show favoritism towards herbivorism. When was the last time you ran over to a wild cow and took a bite out of it? Yeah, I didn't think so.

Almost all vegans do not eat poisonous agricultural waste. What an ignorant statement. Most vegans are educated consumers and a lot of us don't consume soy because it pumps people up with estrogen. Lastly, only fad vegans eat meat substitutes on any type of regular basis. Most of us don't eat that crap.

Omnivore is NOT carnivore. You're right Jason. We're not carnivores.

We are also not herbivores.

We are omnivores; designed to derive nutrition from a variety of foods, INCLUDING meats. Not exclusively. Inclusively. If the two words confuse you, look them up.

When was the last time you saw a human with four stomachs? Or hooves? Or four legs? When was the last time you saw humans who were incapable of reproducing by facing each other, and were required, by virtue of their anatomy, to copulate male-behind-female? We're not herbivores. We're not grazers. We don't digest grain as efficiently as herbivores do. We -do,- however, feed our young milk, which is dairy, which is NOT vegan. See? Even herbivores aren't vegan.

We still have more traits with herbivores than carnivores (flat teeth, long digestive tract, slower moving than all meat we eat, no claws, weak soft flesh, etc..). You choose to see the opposite because you like eating meat & dairy. Good for you! If people didn't cook their meat 99% of them wouldn't eat it. We also couldn't catch or kill most animals without guns and technology akin to the slaughterhouses. I would also bet if most people were forced to kill their meat face to face and gut it they would quit eating it. We are not natural meat eaters.

Just because you can go to the store and buy pink slime ground beef doesn't mean we were designed to eat it, however, we probably evolved that way (2 sharp teeth) because of these practices and we suffer fun diseases because of it like diverticulitis. Human breast milk is not dairy in the sense of a byproduct of another creature. It is natural for a baby to drink. And by default, cow's milk is not natural for us, or our babies, to drink. Why do breastfed babies have lower rates of diabetes than those fed cow's milk? Must be something in the water, huh?
