Trying to make the switch to alcohol free beer...I am a moderate drinker perhaps 2 pints a day on weekend Fri/Sat/Sun. I do not drink at all Mon-Thu.
Previously I have tried low-alcoholic beer (Miller 64) and it was the most digusting thing I have had.
I recently tried .5% ABV Bitburger Drive and actually liked it. The problem is that it is very high in carbs (19g per serving) but the sugar content is listed as 0.2g/serving which is very low. Having just 2 of these beers would be almost 40g of carbs. I am wondering how this affects health, PARTICULARLY it's effect on blood sugar levels and insulin response.
Everything I've read about non-alcoholic beer gives it the green light as being healthy. A point to note is that in Bitburger NA beer the maltose level is very low as the beer is fermented to completion and the alcohol is removed through reverse osmosis.
I have no health problems but would like to be careful.
