There are a lot of ways to incorporate fasting into a persons lifestyle. I ended up loving the 16:8 ratio. No calories for 16 hours, except 10 grams of branched chain aminos on days I train early. Then eat my calorie requirements in an 8 hour window, usually 11:30am-7:30pm on my current schedule.
I've been on that diet most of my life, without knowing it. I just called it, "skipping breakfast."
Curious to hear from anyone who has followed this plan if going up to 600kcal on the fast days had a negative impact on weight loss? Or do you follow 500 (for women) exactly.
Please keep posting your success stories - its very motivating!!
Actually, this is how some thin people eat naturally. You know those thin people that others wonder how they stay so thin, because they eat so much? If you follow them around, you would find that they do eat a lot at times, but will go for extended periods w/o food. They get busy, don't feel like eating, aren't hungry, whatever. Whereas, chunky people may or may not gorge, but they rarely accidentally go for extended periods w/o food. Food is front and center in their lives.
Eating 500 calories is not fasting, IMO. It's restricted calories. Some women can eat only about 1,200 calories without being overweight. So 500 is slightly less than half their regular intake. If she's eating soup and green beans, she could have 2 cans of soup and 2 cans of green beans w/light margarine, raspberry tea w/artificial sweetener. Not much, but not that much less than her regular meals.
I think limiting calories several days a week would be good for health, if you eat healthy the other days, and if you're not miserable doing it.
I guess I do a daily extended-period without food, not really a fast, IMHO.
Finished dinner yesterday at 3:15pm and did not eat my breakfast until the next day at about 8am. Not really a fast, but almost 17 hours with no food. I pretty much do the same thing each day.
My mom does. She doesn’t like the taste of butter. Luckily my dad has come around to cooking wo Y butter in recent years so I don’t need to bring some. Sadly my mom is not yet free of trans fats.
