Thanks to popular low-carb diets, these carb-heavy healthy foods have been unfairly blacklisted. But there’s no need to be scared of spuds or ban bananas. We’re setting the record straight-dig in guilt-free!

Every time we turn around we learn that what was once “bad for us” is now okay. Or that what we told were good are now bad. Not being a dietitian, I can guess the best rule for losing weight is EAT LESS AND EXERCISE MORE ]but be careful about exercising as other reports now indicate that too much exercise for people with heart diseases isn't good either]. Any,how, read the article @ 6

I would agree. Potatoes are not that high in calories and they are very good for you. Sometimes if I'm in a hurry or really tired I'll just nuke a potato and have it with a little bit of lowfat butter substitute or even olive oil and salt and pepper. Bananas are a great source of nutrients too and not that high in calories. What's more, they are filling. With both foods you are getting a great source of potassium and other minerals.

It's one thing to throw out the baby with the bath water when it comes to potatoes and bananas, but it's even worse when they say things like, "sourdough bread is good because probiotics!"

As most people say, whole foods, things that go bad and have 1 ingredient are fine. "New and improved! breakfast cereals" are not fine.

Carbs are cheap energy. Some people can live on them without gaining much weight, but starches also shift your ldl more towards type b which is malignant. High fats in your diet shift them back to type a.

There is nothing in the world quite like being low carb. Energy levels are up, no carb crash at 3 pm at work, hdl up, triglycerides down, ldl down and primarily type a. A big steak with veggies drowning in butter for me to stay heart healthy.

"“The amount of plain, starchy foods (cereals, breads, potatoes) taken is what determines, in the case of most people,
how much weight they gain or lose'"

Corn, white flour (sourdough) ... no thanks. Bananas yes, peas every now and then, and the occasional potato. Breakfast cereal other than rolled or steel-cut oatmeal ... absolutely not.
