I was drinking up to a bottle of Pinot Grigio a night and stopped. First, I realized it couldn't be good for me, and yes I was spending a fortune. Now I might have a glass every could of days. I've lost weight but I've also had a stomach virus so can't say how the lack of alcohol has contributed at this point.

Thanks. Btw I have no moral objection to drinking. I will have few lite beers on the weekend and a glass of wine on special occasions. But I have really lost my taste for it. I will save like 200 dollars a month. Not counting what I might spend while eating out when I add a few drinks, with the meal. We go out at least 2-4 a month. Its like giving myself a modest raise. Good luck all of you, lets get healthier. My A1c dropped 1 point so far. Should be better after an other two months.

Yep, when I want to nip the upward ticking of my weight, I'll often curtail the wine/beer consumption. That way, I don't have to curtail my food intake..lol.

Water and herbal tea become my beverages of choice. In fact, I just had some Sleepytime Tea. Very relaxing and warming.

I also change to eating way more salads and steamed veggies as they fill me up with bulk without being heavy in calories. And I like 'em.

As Dr. Fuhrman says for good health and weight control, eat: "beans and greens." Does a body good (that's my quote, not the good doctor's).

Wine and beer are polar opposites. Wine is good. Beer is bad.

No, it isn't. It can actually be very beneficial to your health if taken in moderation.

That said, I cut back on all alcohol products when I see my abs disappear. Takes me a week or 2 to get back to normal. In other words, yes, daily consumption of alcohol does affect me weight.

Actually any alcohol in moderation is shown to be beneficial to health. Beer is more caloric, but is in no way 'bad'.
