1. To get into smaller clothes (which hopefully makes me more attractive).
2. My desire for food over desire for losing weight.
This was a BIG one for me.
1. Looks. I love not hearing the crap from my doc every year, lower numbers all around, etc. But the number one motivation is that I love the way that I look when I'm at my healthy weight. I also love not looking my age.
2. See aneye4detail's answer. I lovelovelove food. For a while, it was my only joy in life. The one thing I had to look forward to. I know - pitiful. I have since filled that void.
Losing weight is 100% mental. You have to have your head in the game.
1. What is the one thing that makes you DESIRE losing weight?
2. What do you think is the one thing that could STOP YOU from achieving your goals?
1. There is no "one thing", there are MANY things. I want to be healthy, active, excel at sports/athletic activities, to be around to watch my kids grow up, to have great sex, to look amazing with abs, etc. I dont think anyone has just "one" thing that makes them want to lose weight. There may be on big one like risk of DEATH, but for the most part, people want to lose weight for a variety of reasons.
2. Becoming lazy or getting a major injury. Laziness (or complacency) is a killer. Having a major injury that would prevent me from doing ANYTHING would definitely make it difficult to achieve the above goals.
I know your questions ask for "One Thing", probably because you have some preconceived goal or point you want to make to your friends or something, but asking for "one thing" is stupid. Its like asking "What is the one thing you want in a spouse?". People will always want more than one thing, just as there will be many (more than one) things they would NOT want. So asking for just "ONE THING" is stupid in my opinion.

1.) Lower weight to me means looking younger, feeling younger, and maybe not having to be on blood pressure & cholesterol meds.
2.) Schedule conflicts. Before my wife and I joined a gym, it was like pulling teeth trying to find time to exercise at home. I couldn't exercise if my kid was asleep, and I couldn't exercise if my wife had work she had to do and I had to watch the boy while she's working. So, it was a constant struggle. If we ever had to cancel our gym membership, it would put my achieving my goals in jeopardy.
1) Overall health benefits and fitting into smaller clothes.
2) How much work it took the first time I lost weight and how much of an aggressive person it made me. The way I saw it, the task to dropping pounds made irritability and anger rise to the surface much easier.
2) I am confident I will get back down to a healthy weight. I am kind of concerned with maintaining it once I get there.
