Let me go check the ingredients on Ezekiel. My sister has a problem with gluten and that's what she was told to use.

Okay the first ingredient is sprouted wheat, not processed wheat like Wonder Bread. Isn't gluten an artificial ingredient used in breads, pastas, cereals, etc.? I didn't think it was a naturally occurring substance. Will check that out.

From the internet: "For those who are sensitive to gluten but who aren’t truly allergic to it, soaking, sprouting, fermenting and lightly cooking wheat products can greatly reduce their gluten content. That being said, though, Ezekiel bread and other sprouted grains still contain gluten and aren’t meant for those with a true allergy to gluten (such as celiac disease)."

I stand corrected. I don't have gluten sensitivity that I know of but I just prefer to eat foods in their natural state and Ezekiel is better in that regard.

Gluten is a naturally occurring substance found in some grains.

And here I always assumed it was something artificial added to foods to make them taste better or stick together. Sometimes I can be so dense.

So most pasta has gluten but rice doesn't? A potato, which I think of as starchy doesn't have gluten correct?

Wheat pasta, yes. Rice pasta, no.

This is a good page:

If your relative were truly gluten intolerant, she would have symptoms with Ezekiel. Celiacs have a physical reaction to any gluten.

It's in grains, not vegetables.

I went gluten free for 2 years to see if it would offset my autoimmune problems.

Nope.

Thanks for the link! If my sister actually stuck to her gluten free diet she would be better off but she doesn't and then complains about bloat, pain, etc. :-(
