Yep, I am sold on what this book purports....it's working for me like nothing ever has before.

I think anyone who wants to explore plant based diets will be happily rewarded.
Well the "paradox" of plants is that some are good for you and some aren't. You should read the book if you're interested.

Nothing. Caloric sweeteners switch on carb cravings for me. They all have enough readily available carbs that I get an insulin rush that turns on those cravings when I eat even a small amount.

I've learned to like black coffee, sugar free cereal sweetened with just some berries, etc. The worst was hot tea. I missed artificially sweetened hot tea for a long time, but now I buy the flavored stuff and that's enough. The sweetest thing I eat while I'm eating healthy is whole fresh fruit. I don't even eat dried fruit because I suddenly get very hungry after I eat some raisins or dried apricots.

I switched from diet soda to those flavored sparkling waters. The label says they only contain water and natural flavors. They don't say what those natural flavors are, but if there was any sweetener I think they'd have to list it.

I only eat sugar or natural sweeteners like honey once a week for my treat meal.

Artificial sweeteners don't affect everyone the same, but I definitely think it's worth cutting them out for a month or two to see if it helps you.

I did. I am not going to buy it. It looks like another crackpot wanting to cash in.

Talking to my friend who is doing this "low lectin" plan says she feels much better since eliminating many lectin producing foods. Years ago when I was interested in the Blood Type plan, lectins in the muscle of the chicken were NOT good for my blood type. I avoided chicken for a long time and went to turkey but found it hard to find turkey to cook...chicken is everywhere.

Here is explanation of Lectins:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lectin

I have eliminated so many grains from my food intake.

This book is primarily about eliminating lectins, right?

Could my beans be doing me in?

We have eaten mostly wheat breads and rye or pumpernickel for years. I do have o admit, I have a weakness for good sour dough though and break down and buy a loaf every few months.

I'm the same. A hearty breakfast and/or lunch makes me sleepy and sluggish for the whole day. It's better for my energy levels to have a small snack every 2-3 hours during the day, and then a good-sized dinner at night.

I think I eat my largest meal in morning after a long night's sleep, stomach is ready for food. Just had chopped romaine/red onion olive oil and rice vinegar for a lunch snack..dinner is early and light for me. I kinda graze if I feel "hungry",,,I don't work hard so don't work up an appetite for a lot of food.

That would be too bad re: the beans. Beans are just all sorts of awesome for me. Can't beat that fiber and iron. I know you don't eat rice, but I am full for hours eating 3/4 cup rice with 1/4-1/2 cup of beans. I'm of partial Latin and West Indian ancestry, so beans and rice was a staple growing up.

I eat every 2-3 hours during the workweek, every 4 hours during the weekend.
