I didn't go completely nuts, just one big plate with everything on it, a piece of pie and a turkey sandwich later.
Back to normal today... turkey sandwich on lo carb bread and a lettuce & broccoli salad.
I feel good today. Gonna do it again tomorrow.
I did go completely nuts. Oh well! Didn’t count a darn thing I never do when I have a cheat day.
Today I’m on track for 1400-1500 calories. Cheat day helps me appreciate my lighter days
I had a little dressing and cranberry sauce this morning with coffee, and ended up putting the cranberry sauce in the freezer and throwing the dressing out. Oh, and ate a little of the potatoes but threw them out, too.
I've learned from past gorging that it doesn't usually end well for me. I'm often unhappy and in pain. So this year I decided to try ticking to my daily calorie allowance with the possibility of adding another 500 calories if I wanted them.
Not needed! I ended the day having only consumed my daily calorie allowance! And I felt quite full, probably because I ate all those calories in three hour window. But it was good! I ate everything I wanted to eat, just in smaller portions.I tried something new, and liked it! But kept it to a small portion. I munched on finger foods, again portion control.
And I tracked calories as I went. I knew exactly how many were left, and that I could fit a few more slices of cheese in there. OMGoodness do I love cheese! All in all, a very good day.
I don't think we're necessarily talking about gorging, ie, eating mass quantities of food to the point we're miserable, but eating foods that are usually off limits (at least in any quantity), as they're considered not part of our healthy weight lose/maintenance diets. You know, the sweet potato casseroles, the stuffing, mashed 'taters with gravy, the calorie laden desserts and so on. I can't eat mass quantities of anything these days (happens when you get old, LOL), , but it's a joy once in a while to have a piece of pie with ice cream (and not a huge portion, though I can still fantacize), and savor each bite, knowing it'll be a while till I do it again, and that's ok.
Portion control with a few allowances, maybe we're talking about the same thing. Glad you were able to enjoy your Thanksgiving feast, be satisfied and still not go outside your daily calorie allottment.

My brother brought a pecan pie, which I've never had before, so I decided to try it.
When you don't eat sugar often, something like that can be overwhelming.
I could only handle a very small piece. No such problem with the apple pie.

Yeah I ate a 'small' piece of pumpkin pie myself. Like I said though, I made it in a 12" cast iron skillet, so one piece was still good sized even after cutting it into 12 slices. lol.
It was sweet (I used real sugar making it), but it was delicious if I do say so myself.
Funny thing, I checked myself with a pee stick the next afternoon and it was showing moderate ketone levels. I thought it would have taken a full day or two to burn off the carbs I ate.
I had several small pieces of pie this week and a few small plates of other not so good stuff. But i didn't gain any weight and I'm back to IF and on track to losing another 10-20 LBs.. I'm down 25 after about 4 months and I ain't going back.

That's very true, and pecan pie is generally overwhelmingly sweet even if you are used to eating sugar. IMO it's delicious (especially warmed up with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on it), but a little goes a long way.
My personal favorite is cherry pie (warm) with ice cream on it.
I have two Christmas parties, know the menu and my strategery is all mapped out, no problem.
First Christmas dinner, I will be compliant.
Second "Christmas" dinner on 1/6/19... no holds barred, anything goes for that one.

Cherry is my favorite as well, but no one brought it.
