I was looking for something to include into my diet and exercise routine and aide with weight loss (mainly belly fat) and building muscle, and came across this article here.

https://legionathletics.com/how-to-lose-belly-fat/

This guy talks about taking HBM ( β-Hydroxy β-Methylbutyrate), which is a substance formed when your body metabolizes the amino acid leucine, which is an amino acid that directly stimulates protein synthesis. I found a brand that got great reviews on Vitamin Shoppe's website, but man! Four pills with each meal (3 meals a day)?! That's a bit much. Link is below for those interested.

Has anyone taken this stuff before? Did you see results with muscle recovery and growth, as well as reduction in fat? Appreciate all feedback!

Sounds like snake oil.

Want to lose belly fat, try intermittent fasting. It works wonders. I eat one meal a day, my gut has disappeared and best of all I am not hungry.

There is no magic pill. Eat less, move more but mainly eat less. Diet is 85% of the equation.

Be really careful futzing around with unknown substances for sale on the internet; you could end up in the hospital. Whole foods, plant based, lots of fruits and veggies. No sugar, processed foods, low alcohol, and regular, gentle exercise. Skip a meal a day, as in IF, to start.

If you go plant based, the volume of foods you can eat will keep you full. Substitute dairy with plant milks, also. But no pills or products based on false promises and designed to empty your wallet. IF is cheaper, too.

Supplements are not required but calorie reduction is and those supplements may be harmful.
You can't burn fat and add muscle at the same time one requires a calorie deficit and one a calorie surplus pick one and stick to it.
No will intermittent fasting not help either its an eating plan.

I watch my calorie intake, and I do cardio and weightlifting. So should I not be lifting weights then? Between research and talking to professional trainers, I was told weight lifting gets you even better results than strictly doing cardio for weight loss, so I do both.

Keep doing what you ar doing. Weight lifting is more effective for weight loss than cardio. I do both.

Phew, thank you Luckyd! I was worried I was going in the wrong direction! And yes, that was what I was told and found out during all of my research before I started my weight loss journey.

Always lift weights and usually before cardio if your doing some in the same session get your protein up to about 1 gram per pound of bodyweight thats the sweet spot for most to try to gain or preserve muscle. Minimum of 0.4 grams of healthy fats per pound bodyweight and the rest from carbs or whatever you prefer. Weekly averages are OK.
