It did not SATIATE ME until I was physically uncomfortable enough to loosen my belt. But it sure tasted good.

Have you tried living on an UNPROCESSED HIGH FAT diet? If not then you are just blowing wind and making stuff up out of whole cloth to fit your beliefs. High fat, low carb diet will not make you fat, that is just feeding into that "all calories are the same" myth. BECAUSE FAT WILL FILL YOU UP MUCH FASTER THAN carbs. If all calories are the same why do you need to eat unprocessed foods? Why not just strap a feed bag around your neck and fill it with sugar. I mean if all calories are the same.....
You need to be at a calorie deficit in order to lose weight. You are arguing that the diet that works for you should work for everyone. That is simply not the case. Different people react differently to certain ways of eating. I lost weight and kept it off simply by cutting my caloric intake. I eat a healthy diet of non processed, fast, or junk foods. I do eat carbs likes pasta, rice, bread - and I maintain my weight. A high fat diet - I did Atkins years ago, made me feel disgusting most of the time.
CICO worked for me. I am not saying it will work for anyone else. Your way of eating works for you - do not assume it will work for others.

I have been on the keto diet for 2 years now and I have never felt better. I think there will always be mixed information about it out there. Just stick to what you know, if something is working for you there is no need to get everyone else's approval

I couldn't agree more! I get really, really weary of people on various diets trying to convince me that I should eat their way. I'm 67, a 5'8" woman who weighs 135. I do a lot of moderate exercise including riding my horse and walking at least a couple miles almost every day, and I prefer to eat a Mediterranean-type diet with healthy fats, very little meat, few processed foods/sugar (I slip there at times, but don't beat myself up over it), and a lot of whole grains and other complex carbs.

I have eaten this way for 40 years. I take no prescription medications and am very healthy.

WHY do overweight people on these "diets du jour" constantly try to tell me they know better how I should eat than I do? I volunteer at our local hospital, and I've had two customers and one nurse lecture me about how I should be on the keto diet. That diet sounds very unappetizing to me. I'm not knocking it - if people want to eat that way and it helps them lose weight, go for it. Same with any other diet! But the way I eat and exercise has worked for me for decades, and I'm lean and healthy, so WHY does anyone think I want their diet advice?

It's all so very tiresome. And frankly, rude. I don't go around telling overweight people how they should eat - as if I'm any expert just because I found what works for ME to keep my weight at a healthy level.

Jan. 2, 2020 -- For the third year in a row, the Mediterranean diet has been named the best diet overall in the U.S. News & World Report annual rankings.

In 2018, the Mediterranean diet shared top honors with the DASH (Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension) diet. Both focus on fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. The ketogenic diet, one of the most popular, again fared well in the annual survey, but only in the fast weight loss category. Overall, it was not rated highly.
Do they have ratings for longevity? I don't think so. If they did, Keto would probably come in last.

I think the Mediterranean diet is rated the best in the U.S. because it's the easiest diet for Americans to adopt., and that's because it allows meat.

Those who practice the Seventh Day Adventist diet in the U.S. live 10 years longer than other Americans.
But, unfortunately, longevity doesn't count.....

Keto is working for me. Maybe it's my age/metabolism, but something changed in the last few months and my weight started going up, up and away. No amount of working out helped. I just started Keto a few days ago and wham! the weight/bloat is melting away. No cravings or issues so far, but I do miss my beer.

Many of us no longer trust the AMA or their brainwashed physicians to know the truth or to tell us the truth when they know it. They told us carbs were good for so long and that carbs were the foundation of the food pyramid for so long, many of us no longer trust them.

So when they tell us that you MUST eat a low fat diet, many of us no longer believe them. When they tell us you MUST eat a low cholesterol diet, many of us no longer believe them.

I have an excellent primary doctor, but I am at war with him over Statin drugs. He swears by them as massively effective to avoid heart disease and perfectly safe. As a laymen, I can't dispute his AMA pushed views, but I do research on the internet, and have found Statin drugs are massively controversial right now, both regarding effectiveness in people who don't have heart disease, and regarding safety via side effects such as muscle weakness and memory loss.

So my doctor is telling me statins are safe and effective -- THE SCIENCE IS SETTLED, NOBODY DISPUTES THIS -- and then I find 100 youtube videos of real doctors and real PhD scientists disputing this.

And then I see videos like these.

What am I to think? Who do I trust?

At this point I am more likely to turn to other sources regarding the best diet rather than health car professionals brainwashed by schools and pummelled by the AMA.

Again, I am not saying Keto good, Mediterranean bad. I am just shooting the messenger. I don't trust the doctors anymore. They seem to be bringing up the rear. And the kicker is, they may be perfectly right. It is just they have lost my automatic trust and they are going to have to earn that back.

I don't care particularly about the topic you're arguing...but please don't think of YouTube as a valid source of science. Research is conveyed via published papers in rigorous medical journals - after that it is "picked up" by other news sources who may unintelligently misinterpret what they're reading. Also, YouTube is more for marketing/advertising purposes than educational - or at least can be very influenced by dollars rather than accuracy.

If you want to dispute your doctor, go to the ORIGINAL research and read the journal articles. If you aren't qualified to understand that article, then maybe you should listen to your doctor?

I only really needed to loose circa 15 pounds but Keto was a revelation for me ,my stomach feels so much better since I cut bread ,rice, potatoes and pasta out of my diet ,realised how much oat meal does not agree with me too

I can eat copious amounts of meat and no negative effects ,coke zero is my treat along with my wife's home made Keto brownies

Four months in and I might never leave the Keto lifestyle

I sound like a commercial but I sincerely tell you it worked really well for me

I walk four miles daily for exercise, jogging or running is out due to chronic pain in my foot

My body does really well on Keto, granted my version of Keto is mostly lean meat and low starch vegetables, it's not as fat filled as some may eat. You don't have to eat a bunch of fat when you are on Keto, the main thing is to keep your diet low carb while maintaining the protein in your diet.

You can eat healthy on Keto (salmon and broccoli) or you can eat junky on Keto (pork rinds and nacho cheese sauce). But that is true of just about any diet.

I do more low carb then Keto since I stay away from tons of fat. Mostly protein, veggies and some fruit. Occasionally cheese or nuts. I can't believe how much better I feel. I am not so achy in the morning. I tried Weight Watchers for the past 6 months but didn't like it. I did well with it about 30 years ago. But now I chose to stay away from pasta, white flour, sugar etc. My body is less inflamed.
