I'm sure my hormones are all out of whack, which is what's causing me to gain - and retain - weight, so the commercials promising to "balance" them sound good. Anyone know anything about it or have experience?

Next stop: endocrinologist.

What is Golo?

Being Sicilian, I always have to laugh when I see those commericals. (As in Va, Fa n'...)

Here's a good link to "GOLO Diet Review", I read it and I think they cover everything objectively.

It tells you to check with your doctor first.

In my opinion, there's nothing magical or new about the diet. They tell you to eat healthy whole-foods and avoid added sugar. Stuff like that is just common sense. They allow for plenty of animal-protein choices which I personally disagree with, I think a plant based diet would be more effective.

About the mineral supplement: "Maintaining optimal levels of these minerals is a good idea, but there is nothing particularly special or weight loss stimulating in the formula."

Its a program that will empty your wallet and dash your hopes.
Once again - for the cheap seats - If a weight loss program actually worked as they are advertised it would be front page news and everyone would be doing it. Its not some scientific breakthrough. Its marketing.
