Wegovy, the same med, but in different and higher doses, is FDA approved for treatment of obesity.
Side effects on any GLP med are common, or really any med that affects the GI system, and that can include nausea and diarrhea, among other side effects.
There's been a nationwide shortage of both over the last year as Novo Nordisk ran into manufacturing problems, along with demand far surpassing their ability to keep up.

I went on the newest GLP med (Tirzepatide/Mounjaro) for T2D. It has been wonderful at bringing down my glucose and a1c, now into the normal range for the first time in probably 15 years. It's not a fad drug, it's intended to be a long-term medicine, and I expect to be taking a GLP or something equally effective, for the rest of my life.
I have dealt with side effects along the way, and if I didn't have Diabetes, I likely never would have agreed to try this class of meds. I told my doc I may be the first person who was kind of dragged kicking and screaming into the GLP world, when so many are begging to go on these GLP meds. I had to warm up to the idea, and that took a few months after doc first mentioned it to me. I was not interested in the least at first. LOL.
