I agree, unless the person is quite light, 1200 is very low. I'm 6' tall and 167 pounds and I need 2800 daily for my "maintenance" weight (daily workouts consume around 400 calories), healthy weight loss for me is 2300 calories or so daily. Eating 1200 a day if you are a decent-sized person is pretty unhealthy, and not the best way to lose weight, and you would likely be chronically tired, hungry, and easily fatigued running on that few calories. There are healthier ways to lose weight.
