From time to time I have watched that show, The Biggest Loser. I am amazed sometimes at the huge weight losses some of the participants are able to achieve in a week's time. But what I've noticed is how little attention is paid to the eating plan these people are following during the show and I am wondering if anyone knows where there is a description of that plan. I'm fairly certain that they must be on something severely calorie-restricted to be able to post such huge losses but I am curious as to what it really looks like. Anybody know what they eat?
I read that that J has them at never less than 1500 cals. I think she was speaking of the girls and they work out all day. (8 hours or something crazy like that)
You need to burn 3500 cals to drop a pound. More than two pounds your start to lose muscle. But the people on the show are working at retaining and building. They also are seeing a doctor. Fast losses like that can cause organ failure as the body becomes too acidic to exist and it just starts shutting down.
If you look up the weight of any of the people and plug thier stats into an exercise calculator you can see how many cals a body thats 300 pounds or so burns.
They eat typical healthy stuff.
They also use a thing called a body bugg it seems.
You really shouldnt try to lose that fast. Whats the point of being skinny if you just die from damaged kidneys from fast loss?
I don't watch the show, but I know there is a Biggest Loser cookbook that has gotten good reviews on Amazon with recipes that are supposed to be adapted from what the contestants eat.
