I tend to celebrate every milestone I can, and I also tend to turn everything into a milestone. Keeps me going.

So today's milestone -- drumroll! -- is that I've now lost enough weight (29 pounds in 14.5 weeks) that I am no longer "obese." Now I am merely "grossly overweight." Ha! But seriously, my BMI started at 34.2 and is, as of this morning, 29.3. Yay! Very happy.

I celebrated with 4 miles of walking/jogging/sprinting on the treadmill.

And I see that what you hav'nt "lost" is your sense of humor! That's good. You have good reason to celebrate. May you have many reasons to keep celebrating!

My office has been doing a Biggest Loser at work competition, and it ended last month. Winners were announced today. My team came in 3rd place. The company gave cash prizes to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place teams and individuals, so I'll get an extra $75 in my 7/15 paycheck. Woot!

Also, I was 165 this morning, down from my starting weight of 202.5, so that's a total of 37.5 pounds lost so far since February 18 (20 weeks). I've gone from size-18 pants and 1X shirts to size-12 pants and L shirts. And I've been wearing SHORTS this summer! Astonishing!

I don't know how many inches I've lost. I didn't record them when I very first started. I recorded my measurements about 3 or 4 weeks later, in March. But since THEN, I've lost about 16 or 17 inches through my Bust/Waist/Hips.

My BMI has gone from 34.2 (obese) to my current 27.9 (overweight). I have to lose another 20 pounds before I get out of the "overweight" range, but my endgame goal is actually down around 120 pounds, so that's another 45 pounds to lose. (I'm 5'4.5" tall.) My body fat percentage is still very high, but it's coming down.

I have to admit that I've been slack in the exercise department for the last several weeks. It's not that I'm not doing ANY exercise. I am. I'm still walking and jogging and using my hand-weights at home for resistence, blah-blah. But the heat and humidity are making me lazy -- or at least, I'm using the heat and humidity as an excuse to be lazy -- and I'm not being regular and disciplined about my exercise. For the first 2 or 3 months of this effort, I exercised EVERY day, often 2 or 3 times a day. For the last month or so, I've exercised just 2 or 3 times a week. (Lao would say that's all I need to do, as long as I'm INTENSE about my exercise when I'm doing it. But I haven't been very intense about it.) I need to start being regular and disciplined and INTENSE again.

Anyway, just had to post, 'cause I'm really excited!

Congratulations! It's amazing what a difference you can make in only 14.5 weeks - nearly 30 pounds lost, no longer obese and getting extra money in your paycheck to boot.

Any plans on how you're going to spend your $75 prize?

Thanks, Spring...

I was hoping they were going to give the money to us today, because I'm going to the Grandfather Mountain Highland Games this weekend, and it would have come in handy! But oh well. It'll probably get rolled into some minor auto maintenace. Such is life!!
