did the article state what kind of punishment he will be facing?? i kind of skimmed through and may have missed it........
This is what I read:
After numerous attempts to adjudicate the case of State v Jeffery Loy, a court trial was held on May 4, 2010 and Jeffery Loy was convicted of NJSA Title 4 animal cruelty violations against the six-pound Shih Tzu. The combined animal cruelty conviction, for “Overloading” and “Cause or Procure by Any Direct or Indirect Means, Any Such Act to be Done,” was accompanied by fines and monetary restitution.
Oh my gosh, this is sick! Always always observe a trainer/ behaviorist in a class if possible before hiring them..this makes me sick..and no jail time? He deserves way worse than some hefty fines
Seriously? There are professionals who can help you with your anger issues, and they charge less than 1000$.
I don't have anger issues thank you. If someone came at my dogs like that man came at that dog and called it "training" that is when I would have an anger issue. My dogs are more then just dogs to me and no one will beat them and call that training and be allowed to get away with it!
This moron is the prime example of why there needs to be a single certification test and set of standards for all "dog trainers".
Right now, anyone can call themselves a "dog trainer/behaviourist" with no training and other than criminal charges, no accountability for their procedures! There ARE national associations that all responsible trainers belong to. These associations set standards for trainers to follow require recertification and continued education and keep members up to date on the latest training methods and tools. I strongly urge that anyone considering hiring a dog trainer/behaviourist to make sure that the person is either accredited or certified through a national association.
There is a single certification, ccpdt.org. Certified Pet Dog Trainer-Knowledge Assessed (CPDT-KA) follows the trainers name. There are not a lot of them but they are out there. So unless your dog trainers name is followed with CPDT-KA, you don't know what you are getting. Most people who call themselves trainers are just a little more knowledgeable then the owners and do much more harm then good. Always hire a certifed trainer.

I agree 100%. This world isn't big enough for that trainer to run and hide from me if he ever did something like that to my dog!
That is sick. That S.O.B. would have had his cattle prod up his arse before he knew what hit him if he ever touched one of my animals in that manner. Each 'session' lasted approximately 5 minutes??? Are you kidding me??????? And the owners just watched him do it??????? I might have to cattle prod them too! How STUPID can some people be????? What a sick world we live in.
I'm amazed these owners allowed this to continue for even ONE minute...as soon as the FIRST inappropriate action occurred they should have gotten their dog and themselves out of there and reported this "trainer". Unbelievable!
I can't understand the owners of the dog standing by watching and allowing this moron to attack their dog.
I didn't read it all, I hope the little dog recovered from the ordeal.
