Thurs morning my dog was acting fine but after she ate about 10 mins later she vomited 3 times all over the rugs.. We thought perhaps something in the food was bad (it smelled fine) or she was just sick so we kept an eye on her all day she puked still and didn't eat but we tried to keep up with water..She pukes when she eats or just literally will suddenly vomit without even gaggin it just pours out.

Yesterday the vomiting didn't stop, wouldn't eat but still drinking so we called the vet and brought her in. Said she had a horrible bladder infection with blood in the urine. She was exhibiting NO signs of having an infection or I would have immediately brought her in. They gave me antibiotics to give her and said she should hopefully start eating and stop vomiting. Did x rays no blockages they could see so she didn't eat anything as far as we know.

Today vomiting continues, still drinking some water but not as enthusiastic about it, NO food still having to force a little with her medication and she gags. She won't get up when called to go out or any other time, and when I lift her to get up she just vomits all over. Take her out she walks to the closest patch of grass and pees and then just stands there. Doesn't wanna walk back so I have to carry her.

Called the vets again today vet was gone so I had to talk to a vet tech who simply told me hopefully the meds will kick in soon. I'm going out of my mind here I feel like this poor dog is dying and I'm not acting on it I'm at a complete loss. I don't have anywhere to take her and the vet is closed tomorrow. Is there something I can give her to stop the vomiting or help with it? I fear this is either kidney failure or the infection is worse than we thought and its caused sepsis.. Anyone experience this or have suggestions.

Find an emergency vet place ASAP. Prayers are with you. I know it can be difficult, we live almost 120 miles from the nearest emergency 24-hour vet. Just find one and get there.

I would except I just spent $500 on her yesterday and I just can't afford to do that again I have a small baby I have to feed too and I don't have anyone to borrow money off of. The ER vets want payment right then and there and I just can't do it they're gonna wanna run tons of tests and give meds and I feel terrible about it and I'm just in agony knowing I can't help this poor baby so I'm just hoping someone was able to help settle their dogs stomachs with a food or something. I dunno I guess I'm just desperate

First of all take a deep breath and calm down any signs of nervousness on your part will translate to the dog. Don't give her any food for at least 24hrs but make sure she has plenty of water to keep her hydrated. Give her the meds as perscribed and fix her a quiet place to rest if she wants to go out she will tell you don't force her and if she has an accident just stay calm accidents will happen. After 24hrs start her back on a light diet of boiled chicken and rice small amounts if she keeps this down increase the amounts. This should get her through the rest of the weekend until you can get back to the vet. Give the meds a chance to kick in sometimes it just takes a while and if her tummy is upset and she is throwing up she may not be getting the full amount of the meds in her bloodstream but don't double up on the meds just go ahead and give them as perscribed. Keep and eye on her and talk to her and pet her gently. Good luck and keep posted.

Yes, please find an emergency clinic or a vet "on call". Ran into a similar situation not long ago and got the phone book out and just started dialing every vet listed. Got answering service at one and they told me about a place an hour away with a vet on duty. I drove like a bat out of hell and got my dog there. Fingers crossed that you find help soon and your dog is all right.

ETA: Sorry! Didn't see your last post as I was typing at the same time. Poster directly above my post offers sensible advice. Very best of luck for you and your little dog.

Will the dog eat ice chips out of your hand if you offer them to her? It does take time for the antibiotics to kick in, but the situation does sound alarming and I understand your fears.

If you can't take her to the ER, feed her ice chips by hand if necessary. Keep her hydrated. That's all I can think of to tell you. Do you have prescription dog food, e.g., canned "ID"? Did the vet give you some?

She will not eat any ice and has become disinterested in water. I literally can't move this dog. I have her on the floor on a towel and I'd like to get her in her cage and into her bed and every time she stands and I help lift her she just vomits everywhere, my husband is at work so I'm trying to do this alone and its hard to move her and catch the vomit in a towel so I don't have a trail of vomit on my carpet from the living room to the room. Her cage is in my room and I thought it best for her to be in there with me tonight so i can hear if she throws up. Her medication says it has to be eaten with food and when I called the emergency pet vet they said the meds can make her more sick if she doesn't eat with it so the best I got was a swab of Peanu tbutter in her mouth with it, which she vomited 20 mins later. She ate grass earlier but she puked that up too. I will stop what little food we've been forcing and just go with water. And the vet did give me the food with ID on it, and she won't take it

Dogs eat grass to either help with digestion or to induce vomiting (when they are feeling queasy). The meds obviously did not agree with her. Moreover, please stop worrying about getting vomit on the carpet, etc. Your dog's health is in jeopardy, you can clean up later. Stop moving her around if it is making her vomiting worse, and sleep near her (instead of the other way around) so you can help her.

If you insist on not taking her to the vet, there is a very real possibility that she is going to die. Try to take her to the vet's as soon as possible. You can try to give her the meds with yogurt. I would call your regular vet and stress to them the seriousness of the situation and tell he/she that the treatment that he/she prescribed is not working and that you need help but do not have the money for an emergency service. Any reputable vet would help you out. Otherwise, call around; there is going to be someone who can help you.

I just got brand new carpets on wed so I'm just trying to minimize the damage for everyone. I'm not gonna loose it when she pukes on the carpet but I'm just trying to keep damage all around down to a minimum. Its not that I insist on not taking her believe me I want nothing more but I litearlly can't I have no one to help me and I spent tons of money yesterday at the vet. I've called my vet who said take her to the emergency vet who told me unless I'm paying up front they can't help me. Its 930 at night so every other vet is closed in town so all I can do tonight is try to minimize the vomiting I'm sleeping on the couch and I dragged her on the towel near it and hopefully in the morning someone can help me. I even called the Humaine Society cause they have a vet and they said they can't do anything to help unless I pay up front. I'm just stuck I'm doing all I can to help her

Please remember - no one on this board is a vet and no one here is qualified to give medical opinions. Even a vet on here would hesitate to diagnose what is going on without seeing and examining your dog. If you dog is not holding down food, is lethargic and not drinking water, your dog NEEDS TO BE SEEN BY A VET. Talk with the emergency vet and find out if they have financing options, borrow money from someone, get a payday loan, get a title loan, pawn something, find a way.
