There is no better protein for sensitive dogs than kangaroo. Addiction is finally in US stores and they have a kangaroo formula. My friend owns a pet store and gave me a small bag to try and shockingly, neither one of mine likes it. If you want to try it, I'll be happy to send you the rest since I will not be using it. I really was hoping they'd like it so that I can vary their protein, but no. They love kangaroo treats, just not the kibble I guess.
And it seems chicken, turkey, duck and lamb are the culprits when it comes to protein allergies, just something to keep in mind. Lamb is just way too rich for most dogs.
yeah, i had already decided to switch her cold turkey because she's so uncomfortable. i started her out on samples of the 2 foods and now i've bought a small bag of the totw. i'm getting some honest kitchen tonight. so far, so good. i also gave her a bath with anti-itch shampoo (coal tar & aloe). she's still scratching but i haven't seen her chew.
Oh, and as far as glucosamine goes, my 50 lb. Bulldog gets one 750mg pill per day. I buy his pills at GNC, after researching several brands. They don't have any additives, so it works out. He also gets 2 fish oil capsules, which I keep in the freezer to prevent that fish smell from deterring him from them.
ok, another question for people whose dogs had food allergies - how long did it take them to stop itching after switching foods?
