I have been dreaming of getting either one of them for quite a while. I am not ready yet, but would like to learn more from experienced owners of those breeds.

In case you have one
, please write about him/her, I would love to hear as much as possible before I make a decision.

Thank you!

Wow, two totally opposite breeds! I got my Bulldog Porkchop when he was just 8 weeks old. We have never had any health issues with him, though most get them from crappy breeders and end up with $1000s in bills the first year! He will be 3 in August and still the healthiest dog we know, not just among Bulldogs. No skin issues, no allergies, no tail infections, no breathing problems, not a single thing wrong with him yet before we got him, we heard horror stories from those that acquired theirs from backyard breeders. Research breeders, if they are not show breeders and not on the Bulldog Club of American site, run far, far away! And realize you will be on a long waiting list, ours was 13 months.

He's extremely obedient, very smart and VERY active! We are active people and instilled that in him at a young age. He runs at the beach (loves the water!), can jump really high, and is definitely not lazy! If we don't take him to the park every night, he'd go stir crazy! He can keep up with the more active breeds without a problem.

We were told when we first got him that his energy levels will taper around 1...didn't happen. Then, they all said 2...didn't happen. Now, they all stopped trying to guess since he shows no signs of slowing down and gets zoomies all the time if not taken out to run!

He's also very velcro, but that's more of my doing! I'm home with him all the time and take him on errands, so the longest he's ever been home alone is 3 hours, and that's pushing it! He is with me everywhere. If I get up to pee in the middle of the night, he comes. If you don't like a dog that's underfoot all day, this is not the breed for you!

Basically, don't get a Bulldog thinking they are all lazy and fat. Females are not supposed to be over 40 lbs. and males over 50 (he's 48). People just love to overfeed them and not give them proper exercise. The looks we get at the park as he's sprinting for his ball are priceless! Many of the Bulldogs in this area are fat, like 75 lbs. and up...they just sit at the park in one position, gasping for air. So sad to see, I can't ever imagine letting him get to that point!

He is by far the greatest dog I have ever owned and really doesn't live up to a single Bulldog stereotype. He's happy, healthy and just a joy to be around. We love him more than anything and are so happy to have him in our lives. Here are a few pictures of my little bundle of Porkyliciousness.

10 weeks old:

I take him paddleboarding all the time...he just sits on the board the entire time!

Lazy Bulldogs? I think not!

Thanks much, MAK!

Since my heart belongs to PC already , I will take it with a grain of salt (on my part) but am thankful for the great write-up.

They are totally different breeds and oddly enough other than Maltese (oops, one more completely different one) and Wire fox terriers (oops, another one) are my four top choices by far.

I know a whole lot about Maltese and have learned a lot about Wire fox terriers, so I was curious about Iggys and English Bulldogs.

PC won my heart on his first picture a long time ago, but the ones you posted today made me promise him my eternal love!
