Glad to hear the dog found a home at the PD Poor kid Obviously he loved his dog. Moving with dogs is possible for some, but not for everyone. Especially these days, so many people are downgrading to cheaper rentals (or moving from owning to renting) because of financial reasons. I know some parts of the country are very pet friendly, but in other areas it is next to impossible to find an apartment that accepts pets- ecpecially if your options are being limited by money.
Whatever the reasons, I find it so sad the kiddo had to give up his dog, and was put into a situation where he had to do it on his own. It sounds like he had to take on the responsibility that should have been the parent's. It's wonderful that he cared enough to want to make sure the dog found a home rather than just dumped at animal control.
I hope this does not deter him from owning another dog in his later years . I dont understand how parents can do that to a kid , make him give up his buddy , I hate when parents do this. im glad the dog found a home but really his parents could have found something that would take his dog . I used to live in a run down neighbor hood myself just so I could keep my pets . The Landlady she was so cool . If she had not passed I probably would have still been living there . Her son raised my rent when he took over and could no longer afford to live there , but still managed to find another rental that took pets . I really do hope that at some other point in his life he gets to keep a pet and raise it .
See, I read the story and thought how great it was that the parents had taught the kid that policemen were to be trusted, etc. And the kid knew WHERE the police station was. So I was feeling complimentary toward the parents for instilling such good knowledge in their son.
Different perspectives, I suppose....
And the boy did indeed find someone there to help his pup.

Last week, while my Mexican manager was showing off pictures of his new Havanese puppy, he also told us about a Scottish terrier he'd had while living in Mexico. She was a wonderful dog and very smart... and he left her behind with a good friend when he moved to the US. He said that at the time of the move, he didn't know anyone in Boston and was unsure of where he was going to work and live. A few months later, his dog died of a broken heart. Since then, I keep thinking of his former dog and how I wish that I could have adopted her. I feel that I could have made her happy again.
Made me cry, so sad for the little boy and the dog. Glad to hear there was a happy ending here. That dog is soooo cute!
