had a purdy black labbie girl for one of my passengers this morning.... so calm and laid back.... gazed at me with total trust... and just wanted scritches and kind words....

OP what a great story. People are unreal...they dont like a dogs color ...I adopted my black shar-pei Kimora from a kill shelter here- they have so many dogs that they only hold them for 2 weeks..I got her the last day she was to be alive.

It's sad, really. I guess there are psychological reasons behind it. Our chocolate lab was on her last day at a shelter in Salt Lake City. I drove 12 hours from Denver to get her - through 2 blizzards in CO and UT - and 14 hours back. She was about a year at the time and 3.5 years later she is still grateful!!
Black labs are shiny and beautiful and look like seals!

HA! I always say that dave looks slick as a seal after he has been well-brushed..... ... even though his momma is a predominantly lab mix, the only labbie thing he got was the coat.....
