yes, it clearly states that the two dogs fight , over food.
to me it certaintly would eliminate part of the collar problem if the food aggression was handled.
two dogs that have the potential to get carried away with their enthusiam for play/toys, should probably not be left alone together irregardless of
whether they are wearing a collar or not.
Thor's collar only goes on when I either leave for work or errands for most of the day, even so I leave it loose. Other than that I take it off at night or when I'm home all day.
Not about collars, but there's slide-on tags that go over some collars so the ID tags won't dangle/jingle, they're probably less likely to fall off as from seeing them, they look pretty secure.
I kept my dog's collar a bit on the loose side. Another puppy playing with her got his jaw caught in it, panicked and started to roll. It wound up so tight around her neck that my husband had to cut it off and do CPR and rush her to the vet. Luckily he was home and the girl that took care of the dogs was right there at the time when it happened. If it weren't for that, she'd be dead right now.
Collars are dangerous. They should only be used when going for walks. If you insist on keeping something on them, look at harnesses instead.
i have break away collars on the little guys and a regular nylon collar on dozer, instead of going for the "loose" option i go for the "slghtly tight" option 2 fingers side by side FLAT against the dogs neck, its loose enough to be comfortbale but tight enoguh that under normal ircumstances isnt going to leave enough room for a ja foot ect to get stuck.
I may end up looking into a break away for Dozers tags though now, my cresties are small enough they wear cat collars...but dozer is bviusly too big and i wasnt aware they made doggy breakawys lol.

and katie, you dont walk the dog on the breakway the breakaway should be a "tag only" collar, its meant to display the dogs tags you need a harness or a seperat collar for walking. toy breed dogs shouldnt be walked via a collar anyway. too many collapsed trecheas.
Have also heard horror stories of the tags on the collars getting stuck in between the spaces on a wood deck flooring - the dog goes to get up and can't move, panics etc.
My dog just got stuck yesterday ! We have a wood deck that she lays on. I called her to come back in the house with me, and I heard banging on the deck behind me. Her pet ID tag twisted and got stuck in between the deck planks. She was milliseconds away from flailing and possibly breaking/twisting her legs. These horror stories you have heard are real and frightening.
I had that happen, they weren't fighting. Just the typical play. The smaller dog at that time was just getting past that puppy stage and she still had a very thin nylon collar. Somehow the collar got twisted around the bigger dogs lower jaw, it was like a figure 8. One loop around the smaller dogs neck and the other loop around the larger dog's lower jaw. Luckily we were there because the smaller dog probably would have died, she couldn't breath very well.
We have thick leather for both of them and they are snugged up good.
