How many of you all walk your dog? If so for how long? If not why? I just got back from his 3rd walk today. Normally, I only walk him once, but I am trying to be more routine about it. I do have a fenced yard, but he seems more calm after he's walked.

We live on a 35 acre ranch and I walk with my dogs 3 times/day. I don't need to leash them but we do several laps around the property each time.

When we lived in a neighborhood with a fenced yard, I walked them 3 times/day as well. I have large dogs and they need it.

Lately, we have been getting out for apron. 20-30 minutes in the morning. She gets about 3 to 4 "play" sessions outside when the weather permits. Once the weather is warmer, we will go for longer walks to the state parks. She also goes with me when I run errands in the car. I agree about them being calmer the more exercise they get.

I tie Rip to my pick up and he runs about 20 miles at 15/18 MPH after his warm up.

Most of the time he is wanting to pull ahead of the truck to go faster and never wants to just stop.

That is why on a hunt he can pass the other doges.

He has very little body fat.

well with the cresties, we go for a good walk about once a week, but we spend alof ot play and trainign time in the fenced yard...i dont rely on them just entertaining themselves though i always get super interactive and lots of mental stimulation...
with dozer though, now hes getting older run in the fecned area just isnt going to do it for him...the problem is theres not many places to walk around here and the closest park is 30mins away lol...so were going to have to start walking circles around the acreage as i get it cleared lol

We don't walk our dogs, but we go outside for structured playtime. Usually 6-10 times a day for 15-30 minutes, my dogs are 9 and 11 and are happier with short play times and longer naps. If I'm out shoveling snow or mowing the lawn, they'll play with each other for a couple hours.

I run mine. They love it and do a fine job of pointing out how much I need to improve my level of fitness.

I take my dog also to a state park or the local parks from time to time so he can socialize with other dogs walking. We normally walk 20 minutes to an hour but have walked like 3 hours. But the type of walk isn't brisk, since he has to sniff, potty frequently, meet other dogs or watch the squirrels and birds.

I rarely walk dogs---maybe a couple of times a year. My dogs live long lives. (My peekapoo lived for 22 years, my labrador lived for 15 years, my current lab is 16 years.) I attribute that to the fact I don't over exercise them and feed them a healthy diet. Over exercising wears out their joints and causes arthritis earlier in their lives.

We have a nice size yard. When the lab was younger, we would take them to our 100 acre second property one or two weekends per month. There they would run through the woods, jump in the stream, swim in the lake, etc. Now that the lab is older, his exercise needs to be limited to walking around the yard multiple times a day.

Very serious.....most of the time the truck is holding Rip back.

This is about a year ago when we first started Rip.
