Don't know if any of you remember my posts about Hobbs a couple years ago. He's the lab mix we adopted from the shelter. He was boney and acted as if he had been abused. He came with issues and the first week he bit my husband in the face. Well, Hobbs has turned out to be the best dog I've ever had--affectionate, overcame issues, great with kids & cats but he's no watch dog. He *never* barks when someone comes to the door but does bark in his sleep. Last week, he barked, to warn me of danger. We live in the country where I take Hobbs on long walks off leash. One morning he surprised me by a single, loud bark. He was alerting me to a rattlesnake coiled & rattling next to the path but he didn't approach it. Two days later, again, he let out one, long bark to alert me to a growling badger next to the path. Both critters could have hurt both of us but Hobbs warned me--I'm so proud of him!

I remember Hobbs and the incident that first week. Wow! He certainly has made a GREAT turnaround. What a good boy! Congratulations to both of you -- to you for teaching him right from wrong, and to him for being able to trust again.
