Great news!, I'm sure Cody will recover at home in his own suroundings much better than at the vets. Sounds like you've also got a new vet.

Haven't been on CD the past 2 days so I am happy to see that Cody is doing well and hope he continues on the path to getting better.

I'm late to your thread but ever so happy your Cody is home recovering. You know...you did the right thing in being your dogs advocate, knowing something was wrong, and making sure he was seen, properly diagnosed and treated. That's the best any of us can do.

I love my vet and he always tells me, "you know your dog better than I do. You live with him/her." Same for you...you knew your dog was letting you know something wrong and you followed thru. Just like you, I always try to listen to my dogs too. LOL

Just an update for those of you kind enough to respond and kind enough to send DMs...

Cody has been home a week and we've made 3 trips to the vet for follow ups. He is now considered cured, over the hump, and getting back on regular food a little at a time. I can tell he's better because he's gone back to being ManiacDog rather than a sweet little lump that wants to lay on your lap!

The vet said he just really wasn't sure about this one when he did the surgery because they had to cut his stomach open at the bottom, right above the pyloric valve...that area is notoriously hard to heal. Apparently this little guy had the gumption to weather it just fine. He's back to being a pistol britches and has assaulted the Mastiff for both real and imagined indignities since he's come home. All is normal

I'll be walking the yard a little more often and looking a little closer. Still can't figure out where he came up with this ball that he swallowed or what demon possessed him that he decided that was a good idea. Lord. It's like running Kinder-Care and having a bunch of 3-year-olds every day!

Thanks again - I do appreciate all the nice notes.
